FUTURE CLUB - The latest Hybrid single "Hold Your Breath" is a standout track from Light of the Fearless, and one that demonstrates the flexibility of the group's sound and the album as a whole, demonstrating elements of rock, pop, breakbeat, trip-hop, and classical music which collide and fuse and break apart in real time (there's even an immense cover of Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down"). Hybrid have returned after a period of intense film scoring and are rising like a phoenix. Recommended by Kings

Hybrid - Hold Your Breath (Radio Edit) - 9A - 109 Future Club

Hybrid makes widescreen electronic music - the type that's called "cinematic", for good reason - and throughout their two-decade run, they've always made music and accompanying videos to match their ambitions.

What's more, the British band has done plenty of work on actual movies made for theatrical release: they've worked on scores for more than twenty films, including Man on Fire, Deja Vu, Fifty Shades Freed and the Fast and Furious franchise. They understand how to use music to amplify their storytelling, and how to match sound with visual images. They've applied all of that experience to their acclaimed fifth artist album, Light of the Fearless that plays through like a Hollywood blockbuster.

Their latest single, "Hold Your Breath" is a standout track from Light of the Fearless, and one that demonstrates the flexibility of the group's sound and the album as a whole, demonstrating elements of rock, pop, breakbeat, trip-hop, and classical music which collide and fuse and break apart in real time (there's even an immense cover of Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down"). Fearless clearly includes music inspired by the recent soundtracks that Hybrid has composed - you'll feel it. "Hybrid" is a sonic movie, and, like any good art film, it's one that rewards audience re-visitation.

To make the video for "Hold Your Breath," Hybrid has called upon some of their friends from the realm of filmed entertainment to give them a hand. They've landed some very impressive collaborators, including Academy Award winner director John Stephenson and actor James Purefoy (HBO's Rome, The Following, Altered Carbon) to portray the film's malevolent Mr. Black. The film crew that came together to create the video usually work in the realms of Star Wars and Guardians of the Galaxy bearing testament to their personalities and provenance in the music and film world.

Mike and Charlotte Truman of Hybrid prove that they are visionary recording artists. The video for "Hold Your Breath" also proves that they are deft actors. A pair of renegades looking to pull off a heist against heavy odds, and they play their roles to the hilt, thwarting Mr. Black's plans with an audacious break-in. Mike Truman also edited the film and created the visual effects, and Charlotte Truman wrote the screenplay and acted as the producer. Could these two make the next great cinematic thriller as well as the next landmark electronic album? Nobody familiar with their work would be surprised if they did.
