It’s Club Tropicana but not as you’ve ever heard it before. The Wham! classic is spliced, turned upside-down and inside-out and re-imagined in almost unrecognisable form as a pulsing talkbox driven, Italo-Disco anthem created in true Young Punx form entirely on vintage 80s synths and modular analog equipment, at their world-class The Old Hit Factory studios - formerly home to Stock, Aitken and Waterman!
Though the eclectic mashup provocateurs have turned their hands to many aspects of dance music over the years - a centre-point of their sound has always be the creative re-contextualisation of 80s pop culture, going right back to their seminal Madonna bootleg “Dance With Someone Else” which in 2003 was hailed as groundbreaking by tastemakers from Mixmag through to Radio One legends Annie Nightingale and Judge Jules, and foreshadowed the 80s-sampling “Call On Me” era dance craze that followed…
Warming up for their 4th artist album, coming later in 2019, Wonderland takes The Young Punx back to their creative bootleg roots, and is fully approved by the George Michael estate and original co-writer Andrew Ridgeley who enthused that the track is “better than Daft Punk” :-)
The Young Punx is the sometimes side project of multi-platinum, multi-grammy nominated musician and producer Hal Ritson who can be heard elsewhere in the charts working with everyone from Kanye West to The Chemical Brothers to Duke Dumont to Kate Perry
